In 2025 Vancouver celebrates the Lunar New Year with the 51st annual Chinese New Year Parade in Chinatown. It’s an impressive event! The Year of the Snake begins on January 29th in 2025. Running since 1973, the parade takes place on the first Sunday after the start of the New Year. In 2025, consequently, that means the parade happens on Vancouver Canucks Lunar New Year Game. What: Vancouver Canucks host their annual Lunar New Year Game on January 21 when the Buffalo Sabres come to town. There will be a variety of special Lunar New Year activities to enjoy during the celebration. When: January 21, 2025 Time: 7 pm Where: Rogers Arena – 800 Griffiths Way, Vancouver The Chinese Canadian Museum celebrates Lunar New Year with a weekend full of fun activities, storytelling, crafts, treats, and more. Enjoy free Chinese New Year treat sampling, Year of the Snake-themed crafts, and Chinese board games. On Saturday, the museum will host a special Lunar New Year Cantonese storytime. Lunar New Year at Lansdowne Centre – Chinese New Year celebrations take place at the Lansdowne shopping mall on the weekend of Chinese New Year. In 2025 there are special activities on Saturday, February 1st. Guests can enjoy lion dances, a ring toss activity, giant snakes and ladders games and more. The 2025 Lunar New Year kicks off on Wednesday, Jan. 29, followed by the centrepiece parade in Vancouver’s Chinatown on Feb. 2, and wrapping up with the Lantern Festival on Feb. 12.
