Welcome to the 2025 Year of the Snake, Cairns Chinese New Year celebrations. The 2025 Year of the Snake celebrations begin on 29th January and will end with the Lantern Festival on 15th February. There will be street food festival, banquets and yum cha events as well as traditional lion and dragon performances, fire crackers and fireworks Organized by the Cairns and District Chinese Association Inc. (CADCAI), this year’s celebration heralds the arrival of the auspicious Year of the Wood Dragon 2024. It also marks the 20th year since the Cairns Chinese New Year Festival began as community celebration in 2004.
