With the Year of the Snake about to begin, Richmond is once again at the heart of Metro Vancouver’s colourful Lunar New Year celebrations. There are some great activities to discover around the city––with lots of fun, free and family-friendringly options to consider. Enjoy a variety of festivities in Richmond throughout the New Year period. Celebrate the year of the Snake - Chinese New Year 2025 In Richmond, British Columbia with a bunch of interesting events. From extensive dinners to lantern making workshops in Richmond, British Columbia there is a lot to do on the occasion of the Chinese New Year 2025 in Richmond, British Columbia. Test your wits in an annual couplets contest and celebrate Lunar New Year with the community. Richmond Public Library's annual couplets contest is back. From now until Feb. 10, community members can submit their best complementary line to the first line, "At the start of the New Year, the dragon leaps over the heavenly gate to spread Chinese This year is the Year of the Snake. Lunar New Year kicks off on January 29 and concludes on February 12. Families can join in the celebrations at these local area libraries: Richmond. The event will feature dance performances, Chinese lion dancers and so much food from bao buns to boba that co-founder Roxanne Atienza told the Times Dispatch it will take people through "the street food capitals 2018 Chinese New Year Flower & Gift Fair at Aberdeen Centre. Celebrating Chinese New Year in a fun, cultural extravaganza of activities is a famous Aberdeen Centre tradition since 1989. Aberdeen Centre's Chinese New Year Flower & Gift Fair features vendors on all three mall levels specializing in Chinese New Year themed products and services. To celebrate upcoming Lunar New Year, we will have a special performance by Pacific Arts Troupe, Richmond Chinese Folk Dance Group, and Yu Dance Arts. The event will take place on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at both our downtown and Chesterfield locations. The festival is steeped in more than 4,000 years of history that carry longstanding traditions like lighting firecrackers to ward off evil spirits and decorating homes in red to symbolize wealth and happiness – and this year is no exception as celebrations continue across Vancouver and Richmond.
