Sheffield is set to celebrate the Lunar Chinese New Year with a huge festival taking place on 1 - 2 February 2025. As we welcome the 'Year of the Snake', the 2025 festival will transform the city centre into a vast celebration of culture, with an exciting programme of events and performances designed to engage people from all walks of life. At the Sheffield Chinese New Year Gala on 10th February 2025, we are delighted to present a unique performance of two iconic Chinese pieces: Liuyang River and Dance of the Yao People. The show was initiated by Mr. Jerry Cheung, an overseas Chinese dedicated to promoting Chinese traditional culture in the UK. The event will be introduced by the Lord Mayor, Meadowhall centre director, Darren Pearce and organisers of Sheffield Lunar Chinese New Year. The Foshan Lion Dance Troupe will also perform at Peace Gardens in Sheffield on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd February, offering even more opportunities to experience the captivating cultural celebration.
