D.C.’s annual Lunar New Year parade this weekend will be chockful of traditional dances and garb, but will also come with some road closures along the parade route. The 2025 Annual Chinese Lunar The 2024 Annual Chinese Lunar New Year Parade is hosted and organized by the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association of Washington, DC (CCBA) in partnership with the DC Mayor’s Office on Asian and Pacific Islander Affairs (MOAPIA). In the lunar calendar, it will be the year 4723! Honor the turn of the calendar with these Lunar New Year activities and events in DC. Lunar New Year, a celebration known in China as “Spring Festival,” begins on Jan. 29, 2025. With a variety of Asian cultures in the DC area, including Chinatown, the nation's capital features numerous ways to celebrate the holiday. The annual DC Lunar New Year Parade will move through Chinatown, ending with firecrackers outside of Wah Luck House.
