Ahead of the parade, there are expected to be lion dance performances throughout Chinatown on Saturday 1st February to excite and entertain visitors in celebration of the festivities. This day, typically the second Saturday of the Chinese New Year, is considered the "Closing" of the Chinese New Year celebrations. Over 20 lion dance groups, each with their own unique style and energy, will parade through the greater Chinatown area.
