Beyond the newly introduced changes, China’s 2025 public holiday schedule still features two major week-long holidays: Spring Festival (also known as Chinese New Year) and the National Day holiday (often called ‘Golden Week’). Good news! China's public holidays will be extended by two days in 2025! According to the new official holiday schedule, the Spring Festival holiday will be extended from the previous three days to four days, including the eve of the Chinese Lunar New Year on Jan 28, while the May Day holiday will be increased from one day to two days, with May 2 newly added. This is a nationwide public holiday in China, although it is less significant than some of the traditional Chinese holidays.
