About us. Chinese New Year Parade. Named one of the top ten Parades in the world by International Festivals & Events Association and USA Today’s 10 Best Readers’ Choice award, the Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco is one of the few remaining night illuminated Parades in North America and the biggest parade celebrating the lunar new year outside of Asia. The Cathay International Chinese New Year Night Parade, organised by the Tourism Board, will take place between 8pm and 9.45pm in Tsim Sha Tsui. This is known as Lunar New Year or Chinese New Year, which in 2025 officially takes place on January 29th. As São Paulo is a very diverse city, with a strong Asian presence (among other cultures), events to celebrate the arrival of this new year are in full swing.
