Vancouver’s Chinese New Year’s parade happens in Chinatown from 11:00 am until about 1:00 or 1:30 pm. After the parade, from around 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm, lion dances take place throughout the neighbourhood. In 2025 the Year of the Snake begins on Wednesday, January 29th. The 1.3-km-long Chinese New Year Parade route starts at the Millennium Gate on Pender Street (between Shanghai Alley and Taylor Street). It then proceeds east along Pender Street, turns south onto Gore Street, turns west onto Keefer Street and then ends at Carrall Street. On parade day, stop by the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden from 11:30am to 5:30pm for musical performances, traditional tea ceremonies, Lunar New Year-themed arts and crafts and lucky couplets calligraphy writing, a variety of culinary delights at the Food Corner, and more. Parade will begin around 11 am at Millennium Gate on Pender Street; Festivities will continue from 2-4 pm at Chinese Cultural Centre and Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Plaza; Cost: Free.
