Get ready for three exhilarating days on the water as dragon boat races hit Cockle Bay in celebration of the Year of the Snake! To mark the Lunar New Year, more than 3,000 paddlers will churn the water as spectators line Cockle Bay Wharf to watch the 12m long dragon boats battle it out. Originating in the rivers of Southern China as a way to Slither into fun at Darling Harbour’s Lunar New Year celebrations. Witness mind-blowing Lunar New Year Jet Pack shows soaring over Cockle Bay, cheer on teams in the fan-favourite dragon boat races, and be captivated by vibrant lion dance performances. The Artistry also comes to Tumbalong Park, bringing a splash of creativity to the festivities. See entertainers dressed in Lunar New Year-themed costumes flying sky-high over the water and being propelled by jet packs as part of the jet pack water shows on Saturday, February 10 and 24 at 6pm, 7.30pm and 9pm. The 9pm show will coincide with the dazzling fireworks over Cockle Bay. Dragon Boat Races. One of the most anticipated events of the Darling Harbour Lunar New Year, the Dragon Boat Races will take over Cockle Bay between Friday, February 7 and Sunday, February 9, where over 3,000 paddlers will battle it out. Expect ornately decorated 12-metre-long dragon-themed boats and plenty of cheer-worthy action.
