Hong Kong will kick off its Chinese New Year celebrations with the opening of 15 fairs across the city next week. The Lunar New Year Fairs will be held at various locations on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, New Territories and the Islands District from January 23-29, 2025. Chinese New Year Flower Market locations and hours: The opening hours for each market vary, but they all open at either 8am or 9am until 12am midnight or 1am on the following day (except for Tung Various Times Victoria Park & Fa Hui Park: 8am to Midnight, 23–24 January 8am to 1am on the following day, 25–27 January 8am, 28 January to 7am, 29 January We’re expecting 15 2024 Lunar New Year fairs and flower markets across the city, with the biggest at Victoria Park in Causeway Bay. Fairs will open on Sunday, 4 February, giving you plenty of time to get ready for the new year — stock up on festive flowers, lucky kumquat trees, CNY decorations and Year of the Dragon plushies and toys, while Victoria Park is the epicentre of the flower markets on Hong Kong Island, and the biggest in all of Hong Kong. This multipurpose event venue in Causeway Bay becomes a hub of activity with flower stalls selling every imaginable flower and fruit. There will also be entertainment, kids’ activities, and special food stalls selling new year treats Starting a week before Chinese New Year, visit the flower markets around town to pick up auspicious blooms and taste traditional treats. Explore popular spots like the one at Victoria Park and the beloved Prince Edward Flower Market, where stalls are filled with eye-catching decorations, local handicrafts, snacks and games to get visitors into the festive mood. The 2025 Chinese New Year Fireworks Display will light up the sky over Victoria Harbour on Thursday (January 30), the second day of the Chinese New Year, at 8pm to celebrate the festival with members of the public and visitors in Hong Kong. In 2025 the Chinese New Year, the Year of the Snake, starts from the 29th of January 2025. Thus, this year’s Hong Kong Chinese New Year Flower Markets will be from the 23rd to the 29th of January 2025. Due to the Covid-19 situation, lots of traditional CNY events have been cancelled in the previous year.
