In Melbourne, the menu showcases golden bao buns that represent wealth, abalone which symbolises wealth and power, as well as classic dishes eaten during Lunar New Year celebrations, such as raw fish Yu Sheng salad, otherwise known as ‘Prosperity Toss’, which symbolises good luck for the new year. From January 22 to February 5, guests can mark the Year of the Snake with a limited-time banquet featuring symbolic and auspicious dishes crafted by Executive Chef Our limited-edition Chinese New Year banquet has been designed with Chinese food symbolism in mind: purse-shaped pipis that represent opportunity, noodles that stand for longevity, and fish dish representing prosperity. Spice Temple was a major disappointment for my partner & I for the following reasons : 1.Having booked 5/6 weeks earlier we were seated @ the back of the Restuarant in the middle of 3 sets of 2 seating with one of us facing the Restuarant & the other the dark wall of the building.2.5 of our Banquet dishes arrived @ once whereas the tables beside us arrived I-2 @ a time.3.Whilst the food was ok Overlooking the Yarra River and city skyline, Spice Temple’s deep, rich-toned interiors spell evocative and inviting.
